Sony Pictures Classics has snapped up the rights to the upcoming Led Zeppelin documentary Becoming Led Zeppelin.

It’s the first Zep documentary sanctioned by the band themselves, and includes rare archival footage, concert performances, and exclusive interviews – including a never-before-heard interview with late drummer John Bonham.

The deal means the movie will get a theatrical release, though no date has been announced.

Director Bernard McMahon says the film is designed “to be experienced on the big screen with the best possible sound.”
