Eric Clapton has a hot take on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “I think of it as a frat boys club that happened to lure me in,” he shared with “The Real Music Observer.”
He went on to say that he got sucked in because of former Atlantic Records president and Hall Of Fame chairman Ahmet Ertegun. “He was doing it for people like Ruth Brown and The Drifters, all those early Atlantic artists that were being forgotten,” Clapton shared. But he went on to say that the fact the Hall of Fame hadn’t included people like J.J. Cale didn’t sit right with him.
“The fact that someone like J.J. has never even been suggested is proof of what that thing is,” he added. By the way…this all comes from a guy who has been inducted three times! Clapton was inducted as part of The Yardbirds, as part of Cream, and as a solo artist.
