Alex Van Halen revealed in a recent “Rolling Stone” interview that Chris Cornell and Ozzy Osbourne both nearly fronted Van Halen.

Cornell joined secret jam sessions with the band, where his passionate performance impressed Alex.

“We played for 45-minutes. This [guy] got so into it he started bleeding. I said, ‘This is the man you want,” Alex shares. Sadly…the collaboration never materialized before Cornell’s death. Osbourne also confirmed that there were discussions to front the band back in 2001…but also revealed that his reality show derailed the plans. “Eddie and Alex were great friends of mine for a very long time and it’s a regret of mine that we never got it together. The Osbournes [reality show] got in the way of creating new music at that time, unfortunately,” Osbourne shares.
